This sounds a little different from my recent problem but for what it's worth....I had a buzzing behind the glove box that was coming from the fuel pump relay. I had no start issues and starts with no idle, etc. These problems (and the buzzing) were corrected with a new computer.
Originally you say the buzzing was at the firewall, but your last post suggests it's coming from the fuel pump itself: that's behind the backseat on my 1989, 9000S.
