My transmission started as a 95 9000 aero box, When I installed the Quaife I also changed the final drive to the 4.05 that is in the newer cars. I already had the Quaife unit 4J1 for 94-95 9000 so we must have found a output shaft and a ring gear that were made for that generation car, ie not just one from a 9-5 ect.
Right now I have a Viggen transmission apart on my bench and just compared the parts to the origional 9000 Aero parts that I have left from my 1995. They are pretty much the same as far as robustness goes.
I can't see anything Different in the internal components of any of these transmissions that makes then any stronger except that the star and planetary gears are larger in the Viggen differential, but I have never heard of a failure of this component in any 9000 or ng 900.
If I can find the time I'll post some pics tommorrow.
