I bought an 88T 160k very much like yours last summer for $400. The abs pump was shot, rusty door bottoms, etc. I've been fixing it up and finally registered it last week. They computed my sales tax on a NADA value of $625. I've been throwing time and money at it because I hope to get 40 or 50k(miles that is!) out of it like I have so far with my 89s, which was also pretty rough when I bought it in 2000. I also have an 88s parts car.
My Dad bought his first 2 stroke back in 1961 and I learned to drive on it. Maybe this got me going. These cars are great to drive, interesting to work on, but can be a disaster for those in the market for a cheap car who aren't inclined to spend lots of time studying saabnet archives, or who rely on their local foreign car mechanic to deal with all the things that need tending to. Questioning how to properly dispose of them is entirely in keeping with the Swedish psyche which is most likely embedded in the vehicles themselves.
