and i'm wondering just how many of these i need to guarantee i have one to drive, sigh... (wife reported couple days ago my 90 9000 up I keep up in MA that just passed inspection with flying colors lost clutch function a block from our house (made it home in first), i think slave cylinder, at least i only drive that one very rarely).

anyway, my 92 9000 S standard n/a lately has occasionally had a hard time starting, or rather, cranking. on the first try the engine will have a hard time cranking and going so slow, and intermittently, tries to catch, but doesn't. if i stop, let it sit for a moment, and start again it fires right up.

engine purrs smoothly without a problem

then, today, not to be outdone, my 93 9000, well...

yesterday, actually, despite my saab sense warning me, i decided to drive my 93 9000 auto n/a (i've had a small leak in my radiator and been waiting to swap in my new one).

well, when i first went to start it after sitting for probably a week, it started right up but ran rough for about 20 seconds before smoothing out (it has done this randomly since I bought it last summer)

then, within two blocks my radiator hose came off, which i noticed, so the car never got hot. i put the hose back on, tightened, and added some fluid. the car started fine, i drove, the temp got up to about 10:30, still short of red, and then dropped back down suddenly to 8:30 PM. assume fan came on. stopped, checked fluid, fluid level ok. car goes home fine.

this morning i started car, ran rough for 20 seconds, then smoothed out. drove car several blocks away, turned it off. came back 1/2 hour later, turned key, started to turn over then stopped dead, wouldn't turn over. turned off, took out key, put key back in turned key, car turned over, caught and ran rough, then smoothed out.

drove car home, turned off car, started up, ran rough 10 seconds, then smoothed out.

opened hood.

oil now leaking pretty well from my valve cover (has been getting worse for awhile, much worse than a month ago now). radiator crack is getting worse.

new DI cassette felt snug, but bolts were loose.

once car smooths out, runs like new.

noticed AC compressor is coming on when i start car, along with ac cooling fan (must have gotten reset when i unplugged battery to replace voltage regulator because i had programmed it to stay off when i start car, however, that was a couple weeks ago and car hasn't caused problems until now, if AC load was to blame for fuel mixture problems).

batteries in both cars 'seem' fine, any thoughts on cranking issue in 92, and refusal to crank in 93, then running rough??

thanks
aaron
