In some European markets, cars are equipped with a motorized system to change the aim of the headlights when the car is loaded, i.e. three passengers in the back seat plus luggage weigh down the rear of the car, make the headlights point higher, into oncoming drivers' eyes. This is probably more pronounced due to the distinct beam cutoff of E-code lights as opposed to the vague cutoff of US DOT-approved lights. Not sure how prevalent/required that this is, but many cars that I have driven in Europe have had this feature, including some fairly low-end models. There is usually a selector switch on the instrument panel, similar to the seat heater, to control the action.
