I have a 98 9000CSE (same as Aero engine and suspension) and a 2000 9-3 SE, both manual. The 9K is a T5 and the 9-3 is a T7, which would make me assume that the 9-3 is smoother on the boost, especially in 1st. But it isn't. Maybe it's because the 2.3L in the 9K has more low end, but the 9K pulls much harder in 1st, and especially in 2nd and 3rd. There's only a 20 HP difference, but the 9K feels like a rocket compared to the 9-3. And that's just the engine. The 9K corners so much more flatly than the 9-3 that I try to take exit ramps as fast as I can, just for the thrill. The 9-3 always felt like it would break loose. Hope this helps.
