I've been looking for the right look on my 1995 9K Aero. It's black and has dark tinted windows, clear corners and markers. My steel snow tire wheels are painted black and I like the darked out look but I wanted something a little different with my Super Aero's. I decided I would paint them myself. I bought specific rim paint from Duplicolor that is heat, chemical, and chip resistent, plus it has a reflective flake in the paint. I followed the instructions and sanded down the rims with 300 grit paper. I sprayed the outer lip and inside flat spot of the rim in Silver.(almost identical to factory color) But I sprayed the 3 "spokes" with a dark grey or gunmetal color. Then I sprayed a couple of coats of their clear rim paint over the top. WOW! It came out Awesome. I will post some pictures soon. It makes the rim look so much deeper and the dark color looks perfect on a black car and the silver rim add just enough flash and it look like silver rings from a distance and when moving. I was skeptical about a home paint job too, but Duplicolor folks insisted that if you buy the rim paint you wont be dissappointed, and I'm not. It was the best $20 face lift I could have done with my car. LOok for pictures soon.
