It's common for these suckers to make a bit of a racket. If that concerns you, it's usually a benign condition and an annoyance only. Both of our 93 CSE turbo automatics do it.
I'm not an expert on the ways of automatics, but we don't seem to have had any flexplate issues here per se (that I recall).
Since the job involves transmission removal which is labor intensive, and the part itself might be somewhat pricey too (don't know), I think the $2000 to $2500 range might be a safe bet. Could come in substantially lower but there is considerable work involved.
So the question is, are you worried about the clattery sound it's making but the car drives fine? You probably have many worry-free miles ahead of you and the transmission itself should be what you watch with vigilance. If there's a driveability issue, perhaps you could describe it for us?
