I posted many months ago about a situation where my clutch got stuck in the disengaged position. I’m not sure if I ever posted the result. The situation presented itself suddenly; once day I pressed in the clutch and it would not re-engage. The clutch could be bled firm, but pressing on it would produce a squishy feeling and fluid loss from the bellhousing.

Disassembly revealed that the slave was stuck in the extended position. The picture shows the old slave, clearly extended, compared to the new slave installed in the transmission. I have not taken the old slave apart yet. The best I can guess is that a seal somehow came apart and got stuck in a fluid orifice. This happened in the ’86, which was probably on the original slave and seems to have been poorly maintained. Anyway, I thought I would post since this seems to be an unusual failure and might be of interest.
