Cruise connection help, please!

I've bought a used cruise control kit for my 1997 CSE but find there are a couple of fitting issues I need help with.
One is that the brake pedal switch has two electrical contacts, while the pre-wired plug in the right place has three contacts and is wider. Does anyone know whether the switch changed between 1995 and 1997?
The other is the cable connection. The "donor" cruise cable has a ring on the end that's supposed to go over a stud on the sector fitted to the throttle spindle - a circlip would hold it secure. But my car needs a much smaller, drum-shaped nipple on the end of the cable inner. No circlip - it just swivels into place.
I imagine I can always buy a new cable, because this does detach quite easily from the cruise motor assembly. But I may be being really stuipd - anybody know, once again, about differences between '95 and '97 cars?
The motor and the switch lever for the steering column look as thought they'll fit with no problems. I don't mind buying a new cable or switch, but if the years aren't compatible I'll chuck it back at the seller, who said it would work on a '97. Thanks for any advice!
