travels excessively to towards the floor, or that you don't get braking action unless you press very hard on the pedal (but with normal travel)?
If you opened the bleed screws, you may make sure any air that may have gotten in was purged, which would cause excessive pedal travel and a soft feel.
Check that the pads are seated properly, and if your rotors have scoring or ridges on it that you didn't take care of, your effective braking surface is reduced. The new pads may eventually conform to the ridges if that's the case, and braking force may improve. How long that takes depends how bad it is, though.
