It's not a big issue at all. could be caused by debris on the sensors, crappy electrical connection, or the thing is just spent.
They are pretty cheap and easy to fix compared to most other things on the car.
Don't worry about the abs until the light is on all the time, or unless the brakes aren't working correctly.
I also drive a 90 9kt, and i think the pressure you are experienceing while braking is normal. It requires a decent ammount of force on the pedal, because the pedal itself is not travelling very far from when you step on it in it's resting positing, to where it's fully depressed... you know what i mean?
Some other cars have like inches of pedal travel for the brake, and this i feel is annoying...
...so maybe you're not used to it.
Keep driving it, but if you are truly worried, have it inspected by a dealership or a indie. saab mechanic.
