And I really couldn't see any oozing or anything in any of them. Sometimes the rubber boots will be cracked, but they can be cracked on good ones and still function. What fails is the electronics buried deep inside the unit, which aren't visible or even removable.
There are some people who have rigged up a crazy system of externally wiring the plugs to the DI to test it, but by far the easiest and most reliable thing to do is test with a good unit. Do you know if that's the original unit?
