Car is a 93 CSET. About 150k on the clock. Last fall, did a headgasket/timing chain on it. Later in the fall, noticed a little leak from the low side pressure hose, then eventually lost a/c, and figured: I'll get that next spring.
Well, its almost summer and still no ac. The system will run if 12 v is jumped across to the ac clutch wire, and cools pretty well, so the mechanics of the system seem good.
I checked the frost valve, and it is closed, then I checked the pressure valve and it was open at 100 psi static pressure. Ordered and installed a new one. That one is also open at 80 psi static.
There is voltage at the inbound connectors to the pressure switch regardless of on/off status of the acc. Jumping across this connector blows the 30a hi speed fan fuse.
I checked the relays, and they seem ok. Fuses are good. Swapped in a known good acc from my wife's 91, and still no voltage at the ac clutch. Temperature switch on the compressor is closed, so that's working, apparently.
Could my (new) pressure switch be bad as well? It seems like the computer is sending good information to the car, because the idle varies a little after about 10 sec of running, in accordance with the time delay relay that (should) turn on the ac clutch.
Any help much appreciated.
