Mine has started doing the same thing in 1st gear after I start it up. I think whats happening is the pedal is actually lower than you are used to, so when you're easing it out you don't realize that its going to engage earlier and it stalls or chugs. From what I've read, the problem is either the master or slave cylinder, but more likely the master cylinder. Also there could be a leak in the line in between.
