I'm assuming your pump isn't running at all (high fluid level in reservoir, rock hard pedal, etc.) which could be due to a number of things, worst of which is a fried pump. Next step might be to clean the contacts on the harmonica connector to the ecu and the relays in the box in the aquarium. Ari and Anders are the acknowledged ABS experts and you can find their excellent writeups on system operation and testing in the archives. If you want to cut to the chase, turn on the key and check for 12v at the pump connector. If it's not there, you're in luck and can work your way back to the fault. Otherwise you'll have to start looking for an 88-89 pump.
