Removing 9k Rotors

Two fasteners secure the front rotors on our vehicles. The locating "pin" fastener for the directional alloys appears easy to remove as it has hex flats. The torx screw - with the vary shallow torx pocket I might add - looks to be rather challenging in view of this feature.
Should I try to loosen these torx screws w/a long extension on my ratchet or breaker bar so that I can apply the force gradually, or am I better off trying to use an impulse force like that generated by a manual impact hammer (i.e., strike the end to loosen a spring that rotates the bit and HOPEFULLY loosens the screw w/o stripping the head...)?
Please advise.
Thanka,
Rick
