First, I would check that the mixing flap and its armature is attached and working properly. It is possible that the ACC in your car is either confused or otherwise not working properly. The mixing flap armature and control lever can be viewed by removing the "aquarium" cover, the plastic cover on the car side of the bulkhead/firewall in the engine compartment. Look for a small plastic lever with a wire attached to it at the side of the blower motor box. As you move the ACC from 'HI' to 'LO', that wire and its lever should swing in and out.

If the wire's off, or the arm is broken, you could probably figure out how to fix that. If the wire/arm don't move at all, it's either the ACC or the little servo motors that run the wire deal. Don't bother trying to run the flaps by hand, as the gearing in the servos is too tall to move from the outside. Do a calibration of the ACC with the car running by simultaneously pressing <AUTO> and <cabin vent> (bottom right button) for three seconds. That may get things going again. If not, try it a couple of times.

If that system is working ok, the flap moves, etc, then its likely that you have a clogged or otherwise ruined expansion valve. Most common failure is some of the dessicant from the reciever/dryer got blown into the expansion valve and now the ac system won't cool, no matter what the pressure. If that's the case, you'll most likely need a new r/d, new expansion valve, and perhaps a flush of the system followed by a recharge.

If you have the guages, time, and inclination, you can DIY that job with help from this board and maybe the Townsend site.

Hope this helps!

(ps I know this because I'm chasing an electrical fault in my 93 cset ac system. I can't get the clutch to fire, but when I jumper it, it runs and cools appropriately)

Patrick
