Personally, I wouldn't look at a CD model because of the lack of storage space. I'm willing to put up with a lot on these cars because the trunk space makes them so versatile--we've put three bikes in the back of ours, closed the hatch completely, and driven 400 miles in reasonable comfort, with good gas mileage, etc., etc. Can't do this with a CD. If I were in a market for that body style, personally I'd go for a BMW with similar trunk space.

The 2.3 is easily tunable, and the DI system is pretty reliable if you pay attention to the spark plug gaps and replace the cassette when it goes out. Other than that my '93 has had no problems. You should also look at the typical failure points: heater core, blower motor, TCS, motor mounts--stuff that goes bad on all these cars.
