For disposal anyway. I used a Rubbermaid 10-gallon bin to collet the fluids.
When I had the ATF/coolant mixture going on, I flushed out the system by filling it up with regular tap water, running the car for a few minutes (and keeping an eye on the temp gauge), then draining.
Repeat 3-4 times--until the water coming out is mostly clear.
Then fill with antifreeze/distilled water mix. I usually mix the antifreeze into a 50/50 mix ahead of time, rather than put in straight coolant and top with water.
I've never heard of flushing with vinegar, and the other flushing products seem to be an excuse for avoiding maintenance rather than a regular regime. I wouldn't do it.
I ended up with 5-6 gallons of liquid. In my case, some was coolant + ATF + water. That was disposed of through the local government program for household hazardous waste pickup. The rest was coolant + water--I poured that down the drain.
Good luck--it's pretty easy, but time consuming.
