The pressure line from the p/s pump to the rack has been squirting out in about 6 places, so I set out today to put in a new hose. Well it ended up being just as messy as the time I replaced the steering rack on my 900.
To get to the hose off the pump, I had to remove the pump bracket, alternator, and p/s pump itself so I could flip it around to get the 18mm nut off. Then I had to remove the driver's side wheel to undo the opposite connection on the rack. I would say having an 18mm/16mm box-end wrench is necessary for doing this job. I actually went out and bought one because I had such trouble getting the nuts loose. Not many times have I needed an 18mm anything tool on this car, or 16mm for that matter. Anyway, two showers later and I've got most of the grease off.
