You do need an adaptation. Make sure your BCP valve has 3+-1 ohm resistance between middle pin and side ones (still doesn't mean it's working properly).
And here is some info for you:
1. Base boost check
2. Position the boost pressure gauge vertically to reduce the likelihood of instrument error.
3. Run the hose through the aperture in the front door pillar and into the engine bay. Connect it to a hose in the intake manifold.
4. With 3rd gear engaged (or gear position 3 on cars with automatic transmission) and engine speed below 1500 rpm, accelerate at wide open throttle. When engine speed approaches 2500 rpm, apply the, brakes while keeping the accelerator fully depressed so that maximum engine load is obtained at 2500 rpm. Read off the basic boost pressure on the pressure gauge. The correct boost pressure is 0.40 ±0.03 bar .
5. It basic boost pressure is outside the permissible limits, continue as described in "Adjustment of Basic Boost Pressure".
6. Remove the boost pressure gauge.
7. Perform adaptation.
8. Basic boost pressure is the point of departure for the Trionic system's pressure regulating function and must therefore be adjusted to the correct level. Continuous compensation of the maximum boost pressure in relation to the current basic boost pressure takes place through the system's adaptive function.
Increasing basic boost pressure above the specified level will not result in a higher boost pressure, as the adaptive function will then adjust maximum boost pressure down to the nominal level (negative adaptation).
Adaptation
The engine should be thoroughly warmed up. Basic boost pressure should be correctly adjusted. Use fuel of good quality and a high octane rating.

Cars With Automatic Transmission
Accelerate at as wide a throttle opening as possible without activating the kick-down function, from about 3000 rpm up to 4500 rpm. Since the minimum time for passing the adaptation range (3750-4250 rpm) should be longer than 3 seconds, it is best to carry out adaptation on an uphill gradient.
Repeat the procedure until maximum nominal boost pressure in regard to the fuel grade used, etc. is attained.

IMPORTANT: If the pressure switch opens repeatedly because boost pressure is too high (due to a defective boost pressure control valve, for instance), maximum negative adaptation will be obtained. As a result, maximum boost pressure will not attain its normal level. To restore maximum boost pressure to its normal level, disconnect and reconnect the control module and carry out adaptation as described above.
