Starter problems like hot no start

Hello, I have a no start problem. I had this problem before I did the AT.
I had what I thought was the classic hot no start problem with the solenoid. You would turn the key and all the dash lights come on, but nothing coming from the engine. If you kept turning the key trying to start it it would eventually start. Sometimes taking up to 15 minutes.
Did the Ford bypass and the car starts right up. Move to the present.
Car started just fine heading to work. When leaving work I had this same problem with all the dash lighs on but no noise from the engine even with the bypass. 12V on dash when trying to start but nothing. Put power to the selonoids (ford and saab starter) and they both clicked. Hmm did I do the bypass for nothing? Did the emergency start procedure to bypass ignition switch and I could here the starter move just once for a split second but nothing afterwards. 4 gauge homemade battery cables are 60K or 2 years old. Connectors are clean and greased from doing AT. Took the starter out and had a local starter/alt repair shop look at it. Of course they could find nothing wrong with it. Hopefully the engine or tranny did not seize, but that is highly unlikely.
Any ideas?
Brian
