especially with a piston-style BPV such as the Hyperboost. I have installed mine both ways and found no difference in performance.
When you get a picture of what the inside of that BPV looks like and how the incoming boost would be pressing against it, it would stand to reason that the vacuum hose should be on top so that the boost is pressing against the side of the piston during normal boost. Putting the BPV so that the vacuum hose is near the radiator would cause the boost to press against the underside of the piston, in effect trying to push it up against the spring. But the spring is extremely strong and the vacuum hose is pushing down on it since there would only be boost present and not vacuum (as is the case during idle and when the wastegate opens).
Currently, I have mine situated with the vacuum hose on top. Don't forget to open up and clean out that BPV every year. It gets quite grimy in there (and use Mobil 1 lube to re-grease everything).
