...the fan running on high is one of many different sort of symptoms that can develop.
Do another search on this BB for "blower motor," "ACC," etc. Do a search on my name, as well. It could be the motor, it could be the ACC fan speed controller, it could be the connector going to the ACC fan speed controller. Could even be the ACC control interface in your dash, although I'd say it's less likely to be that.
If your motor is bad, it may well have taken out the ACC fan speed controller. And if THAT happened, the odds are probably pretty good that the connector to the ACC fan speed controller is fried, too -- I had to replace that part on my car, along with the blower motor AND speed controller.
Ah, the joys of SAAB ownership. But really, any car will develop problems such as this when it's ten-plus years old.
