G'day guys and hello from Australia,
Thinking about purchasing an 87' 9000 turbo for my 1st car, like your advice on any problems that may arise or things i should be looking out for? The particular one I've got my eye on has done 250 000 kms (about 150 000 miles) and apart from that appears to be in great mechanical condition, apart from -
The seller has advised me that it needs a windscreen and front tyres. This isn't too big a drama, but if you've got some suggestions to cut the costs i'd be more than thankful. :)
He also commented, 'I currently have the dash pulled apart to some degree in an attempt to fix the air con blower thingy which was stuck on heat! It appears the end of the distribution rotary thingy which is driven by the stepper motor is broken meaning the stepper cant turn it around to cool mode. The gearbox has a bit of a whine too, works fine and shifts smoothly but there is a roudy pinion gear bearing I think'
Didn't make too much sense of this, is the air-con thing a normal problem, cheap to fix or horribly expensive? and is the gearbox anything to be concerned over?
Thanks a lot for any help!
Cheers,
Rob
