Turbo switches on and off. What’s wrong?

Hello,
I have a manual 1991 9k turbo with 200.000km.
What happens is the following. With the car rolling and with no apparent reason I get the check engine light and the car looses power. The engine light blinks four times when the car has the ignition on.
Then, if I disconnect the car battery for a couple of seconds, the engine light turns off and I get full power again.
When without power the turbo needle just goes to a vertical position instead of full length to the start of the red zone. I don’t think I’m getting the base boost as the power is to low, like there is no turbo at all (just a thought, as I never experienced base boost).
Other useful information (again, just a thought). I replaced the DI cassette at around 100k; I run it on 98 octane unleaded gasoline and six months ago I replaced all the vacuum lines.
I’ve searched the forum but I can’t find someone with the same problem. Sorry if the subject was discussed elsewhere, but I’m clueless.
So, if there is anyone with a clue to what’s happen please reply.
Thanks
Claudio
