Lazy O2 sensor gives better boost?

Lately I've been experiencing intermittent low-boost issues. When the ECU is not using the O2 sensor for exhaust analysis (before the O2 sensor is fully warmed), the car attains full-boost when requested. Once the O2 sensor comes into the calculation, the ECU would back down the boost to base boost (5 psi, mid-yellow) if it ever hit the red zone. The CEL came on the other day and spit out the codes for a lazy O2 sensor (P0130/P0133). I had it extinguished (since it sometimes can indicate a fluke situation), removed the O2 sensor, and tried cleaning the tip with a propane torch. The CEL came back on, but now the engine attains full boost and stays there. It's like there isn't a problem with the O2 sensor. How can this be? What is the ECU using now that it deemed the O2 sensor lazy and/or inoperative? Since I'm no longer having the intermittent boost issue now that the CEL is on, I'm almost inclined to leave everything as it is. I assume this is not a wise idea since the ECU adjusts the fuel mixture according to the sensor.
BTW, this O2 sensor only has approx. 15K miles on it and is the Bosch one meant for the car. Has anyone else ever gone through O2 sensors like this?
