Auto trans fixed: was the governor seals...

Thank goodness it was just a $42 repair! What a simple job as well. I had the most trouble just trying to get the fender liner back in place again. Tearing into the trans was a breeze as well as interesting.
This goes back to my earlier posting of not being able to shift into 1st or reverse without having to do it manually. Once I pulled out the governor and removed the old seals I could tell why: the middle one basically fell apart in my fingers. The guys at Eriksson's told me that almost always it is the middle seal that is shot, and they were right.
I guess these seals are not part of the process when a trans gets re-built. I had this one put in by Saab at 52K miles, which means I've only had it for 37K miles. That seems way too few miles for these seals to have been in the shape that they were.
Nevertheless, the job is done, and I'm back on the road again. Thanks to all for your advice and tips: I used them all!!!
