Here's another survey. How many out there use manual boost controllers versus ECU upgrades?

As far as I know, correct me if I'm wrong, on the late model Trionic Aeros, knocking is first controlled with ignition retard, then fuel enrichment, then if this doesn't stop it, boost pressure is reduced. If you take away the APC valve, it no longer has that safety control (short of cutting off the fuel pump with high RPM).

This is why I believe a MBC is not a safe substitue for an ECU upgrade. Although I don't know exactly what they reprogram, a MBC certainly doesn't take into account engine timing or fuel requirments with the increased rate of boost achieved with a MBC.

If you use a MBC, what pressure would you target? Why would you think 20psi on any given day is safe? Why not 25psi?

I'd like to hear from anyone who has done an ecu upgrade, which one, and what kind of performance increase did they achieve.
