C-Frame Ball Joint Remover Posted by Gene N [Email] (#1094) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gene N) on Wed, 7 Sep 2005 05:18:52 In Reply to: ball joint remover, yaofeng, Tue, 6 Sep 2005 18:50:10 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The C-frame ball joint remover has a steel tube that goes over the back of the ball joint and and contacts the A-arm. The top of the C-frame connects to the steel tube with a disk that fits onto the tube. The screw end of the remover pushes on the the ball joint bolt as you tighten it and pushes the joint into the tube. To mount the new ball joint, flip the remover around and push the joint in with tube on the bolt side now. The only problem is that it takes what seems to be a million pounds of force to disloge the ball joint using one of these devices.
The backup plan is to remove the A-arm and use a hydraulic press to get the joint out. For this scenario, the metal tube with the C-frame joint remover comes in handy.
