Often when searching this site BB for issues /fix, its difficult to fast forward to the "end" and determine user solution(s). Anyway I just wanted to post the fix for my little issue: poor idle and acceleration.
I must be lucky. The problem here was simple. the hose that connects to the cranckcase from the bulkhead electronic thing (sorry - dont know what its called) was disconnected. took about 5 mins of just looking at the engine for any loose hose - to actually notice this particular loose hose which connects from electronic gizmo on bulkhead to top left (passenger) side of crankcase. then i wiretied the thing. So, back to normal. runs puurrrfect and once again decided I will keep it til it just quits. (always pricing new cars everytime something goes wrong... LOL)
At 267K it'll need another clutch soon and leaks a very small bit of oil onto the manifold from the main seal. It also has chronic overboost problem (apc solenoid) that will not go away. This car cleans up nice but is a 2nd car/ beach car so there is a bit of rust on very tip of front of hood ...and the front bumper cover is cracked a little bit. Also needs new vacuum hoses off the TBP valve /hooter valve cuz they are all cracked (3 hoses) - but no related vacuum issues as far as i know otherwise. I stopped driving so hard a few weeks ago thinking maybe i should take it easy on the old beast - even though the timing /bal shaft chains + tons of engine work done about 3 months ago makes this car drive and respond just like it did when I bought it with 58K miles. Originally I purchased from dealer and was 2nd owner. The original owner was so fed up with the car that just about everything TCS /throttle / computer related was replaced under warranty. So i got lucky. Also, SAAB recalls over the years have yielded free heater core/ srs stuff and some other things I cant remember at this point. A good friend of mine owns a 2000 M5 which has cost about 5-10K per year for the last 2 years just to keep on the road - no comparison of course - but I still I feel kinda fortunate based on reading this BB. Ive found that my gut /drivers instict and some paranoia (preventative maintenance) have paid off. We'll see after a few more miles/years.
also just want to say this site is simply is the best resource on the planet for Saab owners to ask questions and am so thankful ScottP has kept this thing alive for so many years, THANK YOU ALL. Salute.
GREAT SITE!!!
