Keep it simple stupid.
Instead of a $3.00 cable they replace it with a pedal poteniometer, a wiring harness, an ecu, more wiring then the electronic throttle body. God only knows what those parts all cost.
Sure it's nice to have the computer controlling every freaking thing, but for god's sake: if people knew how to drive their cars TCS wouldn't be necessary.
I mean I survived 2 cars without TCS or ABS. (granted I should probably not be here right now). I don't like ABS 100% of the time but I'm sure it's better that I have it. But I'm super glad I don't have TCS (not becuz it breaks but becuz it's one more "nanny" for me to deal with).
When I test drove the volvo S60R I thought, man this car is great but that throttle setup SUCKS. It was no where close to ideal. When I floored it I could tell the computer was deciding if I knew what I was doing or if I was going to hamfist the car into a tree or nearby concrete structure.
I did like the car, but everything about it screamed "performance underneath a blanket of electronics designed to thoroughly isolate you from funtimes."
