DI Cassettee + Pulley + Previous Issues Posted by Michael [Email] (#1365) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Michael) on Sat, 24 Sep 2005 14:45:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It all started with the 'Check Engine Light (CEL)' coming on. So I researched a few things and also have done the following:
1. I heard what sounded like a vacuum leak. I replaced all the vaccuum lines. Still hear somewhat of a hissing, but not quite sure that its a vaccuum leak.
2. One of the pulleys (the one with the shock absorber) is vibrating alot. I intend to replace this and the serpentine belt. Not sure if the rough vibration is causing some of the engine warnings.
3. I took the car to Autozone for a code check. Was told that cylinder #2 was misfiring. Posible causes (vaccuum leak, ignition, etc).
4. Today I removed the DI Cassette. Looked nice and clean inside the chamber, the DI Cassette itself was clean. The nodule (stem) where cylinder #2 was more white around the end than the others. (((I discovered that the plastic around the stem on the DI Cassette for cylinder #4 was cracked along the side.))) Not sure if this is a major issue or could be the cause of some problems, CEL, etc? So this is one item that I need to know (should I replace the DI Cassette?)
Otherwise the engine runs very well for 130k miles. That vibration does make it hard to tell of any other problems because it is idiling a bit fast.
I took some photos of the DI Cassette and the crack which I can forward if anyone can say whether it is a major issue or not. Also is this common? I believe this is the original for the car.
FYI: This is a 96 9000 CS 4 cylinder.
Any insight is well appreciated.
Michael
