Just replace the core...its going to die anyways.. Posted by turrbo [Email] (#8) [Profile/Gallery] (more from turrbo) on Tue, 4 Oct 2005 16:58:46 In Reply to: HEATER CORE, TED FRANKS, Tue, 4 Oct 2005 15:52:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
And trust me it sucks when it dies in the middle of a streak of below zero weather!
Bars Leaks is a highly controversial topic here. Many believe that it causes more problems than good. I agree...my heater core was clogged from the previous owner's use of the stuff. The cooling system has many small passageways and tubes....I don't think its particularly smart to put stuff in there that can clog up the works. If your heater core is leaking, you're going to have to replace it. Bars is only a band-aid.
Others have used it for years with zero problems and strongly recommend the stuff. My indy who's worked on Saabs his whole life (inheriting a shop from his dad, also a Saab tech) refuses to use the stuff.
