.....filling the oil level to only 3/4 is in conflict with the advice given most commonly on this board. I'm no expert, but many guys with highly modded 9K's actually recommend Overfilling slightly. Adding oil until the level is at the X in MAX on the dipstick apparently allows the upper chain guide to be more lubricated.
That's the way I keep my car (M1 15W50 summer, 5W40 in winter BTW). I would never run less than the full amount of oil in my 9K, and I'm curious why anyone would ever run less oil than their manufacturer recommends?
