If so, the transmission oil cooler lines run through the passenger side of the radiator and are known to spring leaks and you get a nice mix of transmission fluid and coolant as a result. Worth checking while you're at it in case your oil problem is a more benign leak elsewhere.
But assuming it's a headgasket issue (milkshake-like reservoir contents certainly suggest that), you have a couple of options I would think. Firstly, it's hard to say what caused the gasket failure, but my guess is advanced age and a long-term developing problem. Heads don't seem to warp in these engines unless subjected to real abuse. Doesn't sound like the case here. However, it's always good practice to get the head resurfaced to ensure a nice tight seal on a new headgasket. Probably worthwhile to have the shop install new valve stem seals at the same time.
On the other hand, lotsa miles, you could try your luck and just throw the head back down there, especially since you might find the headgasket just sorta rotted out. I suppose it's up to you on that one.
Chains? Sure, why not? But I'd probably skip that step if you go the cheap route by not planing the head.
I wouldn't worry about the oil pump. Not a troublesome area in these cars.
Good luck!
