I have just recently departed company with my 88 900T (Simon was his name). Lots of body rot and minor mechanical issues had me on the fence about repairing/replacing him. What I've purchased in his place is a 96 9K CS. I have to say, it was $1000 well spent. She's getting a new exhaust, new brakes all the way around, and will need a new head gasket soon (just a minor weep, but cheaper to fix now than wait till later).
I will be doing the work myself (well...maybe not the head gasket), and wanted to throw a shout-out to the best parts place I've ever dealt with, eEuroparts.com. I have always been able to turn to them for high-quality parts, and because I live in New England, I get next-day delivery on anything I order. Free shipping on parts over $50 (which doesn't take long for a Saab) is a great feature, and I recommend them highly to anyone looking to do some upkeep/repair to their Saab. Even when I had a problem with a defective part, the customer service rep was quick to respond to my e-mail, and the problem was quickly resolved, no questions asked.
With that out of my system, I have a couple of questions for the forum. One, the air intake fan piece for the ACC system (takes the space of a switch, little circular grate in the dash) has a bit of a rattle to it. I think it's just out of balance, but I was wondering about rebuilding/replacing. What should I do?
Also, are there any things I should be watchful for on a '96 9K? Does anyone have any symptoms I should be aware of while owning this car?
Thanks!
