Hello all. Just wanted to provide a warning to anyone who may be looking at a used, black, 1997 Saab 9000 CS in Nashua NH.
This past weekend, I traded-in my troublesome 9000 to Infiniti of Nashua for a 1999 9-5 Sedan. I neglected to tell them of a water leak that the car has. I know their plan is to sell it so I wanted to warn the Saabnet community.
The car runs great. Excellent gas milage, and I had just put $3000 parts and labor into it. New exhaust, brakes, suspension bushings. New wheels and tires, new battery, new stereo and speakers (including all Delphi XM wiring and SkiFi2 cradle), and a Parrot CK3100 Bluetooth handsfree phone kit.
Now the problem...the moonroof tray leaks big time. I cleaned the drain tubes, but the recent torrential downpours we had exposed a big problem with water drainage. The water came into the car over through the back of the tray, over the headliner and into the back of the car. Since the car received about 5 straight days of this, I'm sure there will be some major water damage in there. I only had the car 4 months, so who knows how long it had been leaking before I got it?
Obviously I took a bath on this car (literally and figuratively) but I wanted to make sure none of the Saabnet community ends up with my headaches. If you think you can fix it...by alls means go for it. It was a good car other than the water. :)
