I am not sure exactly which head you have, but here is what I have come across:
I own a '92 9000 CD Griffin Edition Turbo with a 2.3l and its head was cracked, so I went to the local junkyard and got a head from a '90 900 Turbo with a 2.0L($50 versus $475 for a rebuilt one from a local head rebuilder). They look similar, but on the 900's head the combustion chambers are smaller, the engine "lift" hook mounts are different (on the 9000 head they look like small webs just for the hooks, while on the 900 head, they look like fuel pump mounting flanges, but do not have holes that go into the oil cavity, plus one of these flanges doesn't have any bolt holes), the cam caps have an oil tube that runs on top of them, and the turbo water hole does not exist (just as you have mentioned on yours). I plan on drilling and tapping the turbo water hole (and filing the surface flat), but do not know if any of the other differences will be of any concern. I also don't know if the cams are different (timing, duration, lift, etc.) but I am planning on using my cams (and caps, if the oil tubes are not a necessity) from the 9000 anyway. If anyone out there has more info on the differences in these heads I would like to know as well. I will let you know if I find out anything further while I continue putting mine back together.
Thanks!
Rodney
