Clutch problems Posted by Daven [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Hey all.
The clutch pedal on my '92 9KT [165k] is on the floor and doesn't want to engage.
--->I had the clutch replaced last Christmas but can't remember whether the slave was replaced in addition. About a month ago the clutch pedal started not returning all the way after I lifted my foot, until eventually (after a week) it stayed on the floor altogether. A week later I got in and it worked again, but still didn't return all the way, and I used this opportunity to drive it to the repair shop. I had them install a used Master Cylinder, that worked fine when it was removed, and of course bleed the system afterward. When I got the car back the clutch worked but still didn't return all the way and it felt spongey. After three or four days of just driving around town, the clutch went to the floor again and stayed there. Again, after four days of leaving it alone I tried it again and the clutch worked again (but still not returning all the way) enough to get the car back to my house across town where it stopped working again.
My question is could they not have bled the system properly and the air bubbles work themselves together until the clutch stops working?, or could the Master Cylinder need to be replaced with a NEW one?, or could this be my nightmare come true and I need to replace the Slave cylinder? Any ideas?
--->There is no fluid leak from the master, on the carpet or otherwise that I know of, and the fluid level is steady and normal.
Please let me know what you think. Thanks.
