Mary, I live in Maine and have 5 Saabs on the road. I used to run studded Gislaveds exclusively. I also ran a set of Coopers a couple of years ago on our 9-5 and immediately realized it was a mistake. We now run the studded Nokians on all cars and are very pleased. The are super for traction, high speed driving and they last. I have winter wheels and install the winter wheels/tires by 12/1 (unless we get earlier snowfalls) and remove them 4/1. That usually equates to over 10K miles per season and have found that we can get over 3 years per set before they start to loose their effectiveness. Because of the small tread pattern, they remain effective much longer than many other brands. You will of course, throw a few studs each year. I highly recommend them!
