the only things that have worked for me...
how many miles does your car have on it, when were the plugs changed last, when was the DI Cassette last replaced, and how clean is your air filter...
I drove my 92 9000 non-turbo for 35+K miles on the same plugs, on an old DI, and got great gas mileage, but power was lacking. I thought I needed a turbo to get it going, until I replaced the air filter (better gas mileage, and better performance), the plugs (which had almost nothing left of them to gap), and finally, the DI Cassette.
That turned my sluggish car into a quick, responsive, non-turbo machine at 167K miles.
I then rigged a crude ram air system using a vaccuum hose snaked from the grill to the air inlet behind the driver's side marker light, and acceleration/power was noticeably improved, even my wife noticed and appreciated it...
But the risk was of water getting sucked in and soaking the air filter, so I removed that.
Beyond that, I havent' found anything to improve performance, short of driving downhill.
