Spent the day trying to source the voltage regulator locally (NH). No luck. Some parts places even let me disassemble alternators! Prices ranged from a high of 107! to 34$ (NAPA) . I ordered ELKIN replacement from NAPA, and the part # is VR 506. Nobody has the bosch. Question - the elkin does not look like the bosch . Square top vs. round for bosch. Anybody used VRs other than BOSCH? One more thing, after seeing a closeup pic of the bosch, the brushes new are 4x longer than my 10 year old ones, confirming that is my problem. Removal was not that dificult, following quasi's directions, and pics from Haynes (which actually details the VR replacement, albeit with alternator removed).Regards, Tom S.
