The round stock reciever type,You need to use the lever wrench that came with the hitch. You place the u notch in the wrench under the round hand knob.Place the round shaft into the reciver tube upside down, then with the wrench lever under the hand knob you need to lever the knob out that 1/4 inch or more that is required to allow the round hitch shaft to drop into the reciecer.Release the wrench on the knob. Now rotate the hitch ball and shaft up to top position. Then screw the hand knob,by hand,in so it locks tight against round shaft, then take the wrench and place it in the slot of the hand knob and turn it to lock/tighten the knob in place.
To remove the hitch/ball set up just do the reverse. If you look at the notch and grove in the round hitch shaft it will become clear how it all works and why it works the way it does. When it's together and tighten there in no play or movement to make any noise and is very securely locked in place. I don't know why it's not more used in hitches built over here, other than the extra cost to machive the round shaft.
