Ok I see. So this is the original IDM for that car (year 97 week 12)?

I got the impression that you had the IDM replaced on that car one time before already.

My chain of thoughts were that maybe the newer red IDMs have some of the innard components shared the black ones and therefore the failure symptoms have moved from being a slow death on the old style ones to a sudden death on the newer red ones.

It seems that the latest red IDMs have the designation TK3.2C where I guess the C stands for some kind of upgrade?

The letter in its own box (E in your case) I'm not sure how that one is used since the new red ones (TK 3.2C) have the letter I in that box.
