as what insurance co would sell the car back to you.
my 90 9000 recently got totaled by insurance co because of water damage and high repair estimate and high deduction for a little rust. they valued by car at $125 scrap value, which is what i got quoted for my 92 9000S (scrap metal value) for when i'm done pulling parts off of it (presuming I don't take a lot of metal away). Maybe a 98 is newer, but it may have the same srap value to a junk yard since it's really totaled. taking as much insurance money as you can get for it and buying car back for a couple hundred bucks and stripping it, selling rest for scrap yourself for $100 or so...
that would be a win/win, I think, since it may have saved your life.
glad you're ok, good karma, maybe you'll get lucky and find a car you like even more!
