The center or W port is connected to a shallow cylindrical cavity that contains a magnetic disc. This disc is pulled up or down by the coils to block the C or R ports respectively. When you blow into C or R the disc should be pushed out of the way to allow air to flow out W. When you blow in W the disc will block either C or R but not both at the same time. Hope this helps.
