Postscript? Headlight relay shorting out electrical sys

I posted a couple or three weeks ago about my wife's headlight relay somehow shorting out the electrical system on her '95Aero. She got it going by jumping the battery.
Since she had been having quirks in the headlight relay, I pulled it and opened it up. There were no obvious cracks, but I soldered a number of contacts that looked as if they might have an issue, then put the relay in my '95CSE.
I immediately began experiencing some of the same problems she had. Headlights flickering off, and the entire electrical system reset. It also drained my 6yr old battery. Several times. Finally, nothing could get the car going.
At Yaofeng's encouraging on this board I took another look at the relay. Not with a microscope as he suggested, but with an 8x loop magnifier. I spotted a crack I had not seen and melted the solder to restore the joint.
After putting a new battery in to replace my shot one, I have not had a bit of problem with the relay. Two weeks out.
So thanks, Yaofeng. I'm still confounded by the ability of the relay to short out the battery. And I'm still waiting for the relay to act up again. I was not convinced that I had actually fixed anything. But is is two weeks out and I've not had a problem....
