Yaofeng, it's the center piece in my case; the two side piece are still present and accounted for. I think I know what happened with it, I bumped into a high stop in a parking lot, and it probably dislodged it. Should have taken a closer look at it, but all I did was look at the outside spoiler area, and didn't think to check the fasteners.
Like Abusot said, they were hanging down a bit and catching wind, but I tucked them back up under the spoiler, so I think they'll stay put for now.
Without the piece in place, there may be some reduction in airflow through the radiator, but the main benefit may be just to keep the road debris from kicking up underneath and spraying the engine.
It's a pretty flat piece, so I guess the chances are good it may just be laying on the side of the road and still intact, so maybe I'll do some scouting around for it anyway. Just didn't want to play Frogger on the highway during busy time; it's not the kind of thing to get run over for!
